History of TMU

1949 Tokyo Metropolitan University was established by merging Tokyo prefectural colleges.

1949 Tokyo Metropolitan University has 3 schools (Liberal Arts, Science, Engineering).

1957 Tokyo Metropolitan University has 4 schools (Liberal Arts, Law and Economics, Science, Engineering).

1966 Tokyo Metropolitan University has 5 schools (Liberal Arts, Law, Economics, Science, Engineering).

1991 Tokyo Metropolitan University moved its campus from Meguro Ward to Minamiosawa Hachioji-City Tokyo.

2005 Tokyo Metropolitan University merged other 3 Tokyo prefectural colleges to have 29 departments and 3 campuses.
